About

Hey, Neil here from Casual Car Guide.

I haven’t always loved cars. In truth, I was never really that bothered about them at first. It’s only during the last four years that I have taken an active interest in the automotive industry.

It all started when I purchased a used Vauxhall Astra that was riddled with issues. In a bid to understand exactly what was wrong with the car, I began consuming as much car-based content as I could.

In the end, I scrapped the Astra. It is never worth sacrificing your sanity for a car that goes wrong time and time again. Since then, I’m the proud owner of a Mazda MX-5 Miata NB.

If you’ve stumbled across this humble website, it’s probably because you love cars too.

But not to the point of mindless obsession. That’s why it’s called the Casual Car Guide – a hub for casual car fans and weekend fanatics who enjoy automotive brilliance without all of the fuss and technicalities.

I set up this website in the hopes of helping people just like me. It’s for people who are interested in cars and automotive shenanigans, but who might not be absolutely obsessed with the minute details.

Since starting this website, I have learned that you don’t have to know how to carry out a full engine rebuild to be a car enthusiast. There are a thousand reasons why you choose cars to form a part of your personality – and every reason is just as valid as the next.

I hope you can find an article or guide on this website that helps you further boost your love of cars. I know that writing them does.

Enjoy!

Neil
